Born free bottles nipples question for 9 month old? I use variable flow nipples and my daughter chokes. Should I buy stage 2 medium or stage 3 fast instead? |
| if your daughter is choking when she eats then you need a low stage nipple. like the 2. my 2 month old is on the stage one the mediums make her choke. |
Born Free Bottles and Avent nipples? I use Avent bottles but want to switch my little one to Born Free Bottles (BPA Free). I've read that the Born Free nipples tend to collapse. So, I'm hoping to use my Avent nipples with the Born Free Bottles. Does anyone have experience with this? Good? Bad? |
| The born free nipples will collapse if done up too tight but I haven't had it happen once since I got used to how tight to do the nipple up. The avent nipples do fit but tend to leak because of the venting on the bottom of the avent nipples but I do know people that do use the avent nipple with the born free bottle. |
Sore nipples after 8 months of pain free breastfeeding! What can i do? I have an 8 month old daughter who i have successfully breastfed pain free until a few days ago when it started becoming rather painful. She is currently enjoying 2 solid meals a day but over the last week breastfeeding her has become painful. I am wondering what could be causing this and how i can help it. My nipples are not cracked and im not sure whether she is teething or not just yet, because it doesnt feel like she's biting me. |
look into candida (yeast) that happened to me. It is likely, especially since it is summer time. Yeast love warm moist places. As your doctor for some meds. Mine recommended over the counter lotrimin which she said was safe for baby as well.
If you do have yeast: The only thing that made it go away completely in my case was using the lotrimin, getting meds for my baby AND rinsing my bras with white vinegar. The yeast can survive in your bra. I also rinsed my nipples with vinegar after each breast feeding, since my baby had yeast in his mouth too. It takes a while to get over, but if you use the vinegar you'll have a better chance of keeping it gone. |
Will nipples hurt despite pain free breastfeeding? My baby is 5 weeks old and I am not sure if she is getting a good latch. Despite no pain when breastfeeding I can feel pain whenever I touch my nipples after a while that I have breastfed. Is it normal to feel pain in the nipple when you touch it despite pain free breastfeeding? Thanks. |
| yes, if she was on the breast for a while pain afterwards can be expected. Babies have a very strong sucking action so after a while of that your nipples will of course be a little sore |
What bottles that are BPA free can I use with the Gerber Nuk pacifier nipples? I have the Nuk bottles with the pacifier nipples (flat on bottom, round on top) but they aren't bpa free. What bottles can I get that I can use the Nuk nipples wth? |
The only other bottles that I know that you can use with the wide nuk nipples are the wide green to grow bottles.

Gerber now makes nuk bottles that are BPA free as well.

Does anyone know if Nuk wideneck bottle nipples fit into Born Free wideneck glass bottles? I can't find any Nuk wideneck glass bottles that are sold or shipped to the U.S., all I can find is Born Free bottles. I am trying to make the switch to glass bottles, but my daughter is a fan of the Nuk wideneck nipples.
Thanks for any help on the matter. :) |
It is not good to use any nipple on a bottle it wasn't designed to go with. It can create suction in the bottle or difficulties for the baby to feed.
You can buy 3 bottles for around $13 online or in retail stores.

I've also seen them at walmart and some pharmacies. |
I want to go bra free..but I don't like the idea of nipples showing in public? I would like to go bra free because it's so comfortable, except what can I do to get rid of the nipples showing? Could you please suggest any brands of nipple cups or whatever u use to help get rid of the problem. Please be serious, I'm not looking for crtisizem. |
try floral shape adhesives. They look very weird when you put them on, but nothing shows through.
Victoria's secret sells them

but I've also seen them in department stores- look next to the shaping underwear |

Best pba free bottle/nipples for breast feeding moms? the dropins seem like a lot of work, and seem sort of complicated (my husband will be using these bottles lol)also it seems like the liners would get expensive. i would like to be able to continue to breast feed her when i am home, so any suggestions on nipples would be helpful as well. thnaks |
Actually, I LOVE the dropins. You always know they are sterile. If you get the actual dropins, they are really no more work than regular bottles. (The original liners are a pain in the butt though.) The hardest part about it is squeezing out all of the air, but worth it to reduce colic. If you are worried about expense, you can go to walmart for your liners. They have Parent's Choice brand dropins and you get 100 for the same price as you'd pay for 50 of the playtex brand.
I have used playtex nursers with both of my boys now. My first was formula fed after 6wks, but my 2nd is exclusively breastfed. My husband is actually able to get my newborn to latch onto the playtex nipples just like he does the breast. (He sucks on the base of the nipple, not just the nipple) If your baby doesn't have any latex allergy, the latex nipples are great because they move more like a mother's nipple than the silicone. They are also some of the cheaper bottles out there. You do have to pay for the liners, but the 100pack goes slow even for a formula fed baby. If you are still breastfeeding most of the time, I doubt you will end up spending that much on liners.
To be honest, what bottle you use is more up to the baby than you. You may have to trial and error with your little one. In general, anything with a wide base and slow flow is best for a breastfed baby. |
